Electrical Safety in the Workplace
Each year about 1000 accidents at work involving electric shock or burns are reported to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). Around 30 of these are fatal! Portable electrical appliances are a major cause of fires both in the home and at work.
A sobering fact:- Over 2,500 people are killed or injured as a result of electrical fires every year!

Portable Appliance Testing
PAT Testing (Portable Appliance Testing) is simply a method of making sure that, as far as is possible, all electrical items are safe to use. In addition, many insurers view regular appliance testing as an essential condition of their insurance contracts.
Most major underwriters have indicated that they expect the businesses they insure to be compliant with all applicable regulations when insuring the business. An insurer may reduce, delay or even refuse to pay on a claim for damage if an appliance that has not been tested has led or contributed to the damage.
Repairs
Minor faults found during the course of the inspection can be repaired as we find them and the appliance re-tested. More serious faults will always be quoted for first. |

Periodic Fixed Wiring Inspections
Periodic fixed wiring inspections is the testing of an electrical installation in a building from the main incoming power all the way to the final circuits that could include lighting, power and machines.
All electrical installations should be subject to Periodic Inspection and Testing to prevent:
• Damage through Wear and Tear
• Corrosion
• Excessive Electrical Loading
• Ageing
• Environmental Influences
Legislation requires that certain electrical installations are maintained in a safe condition and therefore must be periodically tested.
The frequency of this schedule will depend on the type of environment, but will typically be either 3 or 5 years.
